A Kingston man whose licence was already suspended faces new impaired driving charges after he was arrested Thursday while driving slowly on a major boulevard on a blown-out rear tire.
A breathalyzer test later indicated he had more than 2.5 times the legal limit of alcohol in his system, police said.
Police said the 25-year-old, whose identity was not released, had driven off the road, scratching the side of his vehicle and blowing out the tire.
Patrol officers responding to the call spotted the man at about 4 a.m. driving “at a slow rate of speed with the right rear wheel grinding into the pavement.”
He was charged with impaired driving and driving while suspended and released pending a future court date. Although already suspended, if convicted the accused would face a one-year suspension.
His vehicle was seized and impounded for seven days.
