On Day 2 of the Canada Road Safety Week campaign, two drivers in the Upper Ottawa Valley were charged after allegedly driving a combined 132 km/h over the posted speed limits in separate incidents.
An 18-year-old man from Pembroke was stopped on Highway 17 in Laurentian Valley Township on Wednesday afternoon after his vehicle was clocked at 142 km/h in a 90 zone, the OPP said in a news release.
About an hour later, a 60-year-old man from the Whitewater Region was pulled over on Highway 17 in the same township after his vehicle reached 170 km/h in a 90 zone, police said.
Each driver had his licence suspended, was charged with stunt driving and was issued a summons to appear in court at Pembroke.
The road safety campaign runs from May 15 until May 21.
