He raced the law and the law won.
A 30-year-old Ottawa man on a motorcycle was cruising along Highway 50 in Gatineau on Sunday afternoon when a couple of Sûreté du Québec officers tried to pull him over.
The biker had other ideas.
He took off west, and tried to lose the police by doing a U-turn into the highway’s eastbound lanes.
Then he lost control of the bike in the interchange with Highway 5. That’s where police caught up with him.
For starters, he faces $3,765 for a cluster of traffic tickets related to his driver’s licence and the bike’s licence plate. And that’s before the courts even get involved.
On top of that, police are expecting to add dangerous driving, a criminal charge. As well, they found drugs on the bike — methamphetamine, hashish, cocaine and others, along with $2,000 in cash — and charges are pending on that issue as well.
The motorcycle will spend 30 days in bike jail.
