Well, some of you may have read my previous comments on him. Here is some update, more like a readjustment.

D. Lau is a civil engineering prof.

I don't know where he comes from, but he has a really bad accent, and he pauses every five seconds. this is a really bad thing for a prof of any kind. Meanwhile his explaination of examples is really fast.

His lecture is pretty hardcore, which help you to do the hard problems. However, his test and exams are hard, too.

In general, good prof to learn from, bad for exam time. You can learn a lot from him, as far as you can understand.

I think he got a cantonese accent, really sucks english which make you tired. I'll never take his class anymore.

i think he is from HK. lau is used as liu in mainland. he is ok, he didn't fail me in Matrix.

He is alright, just doesn't know how to teach.

In that sense, all univeristy instructors should take teachers college, but they don't. Pathetic.

He is from Singapore and he graduated from UC.Berkley, which is the most awesome qualification in our department. It's true that his lecture is really a mess. But the material is brilliant enough for grads and maybe a little too advanded for undergrads.
