Various City departments will participate in Capital Pride Week celebrations

Capital Pride Week takes place next week, August 18 to 25, and various City of Ottawa departments will participate in this year’s festivities.

A flag raising ceremony will take place on Monday, August 19 at noon, at City Hall, Marion Dewar Plaza. Rainbow flags will also be raised Monday at the following City facilities:

  • Ottawa Public Health at the Mary Pitt Centre on 100 Constellation Drive, at 9:00 am
  • By-law and Regulatory Services Headquarters at 735 Industrial Avenue, at 9:00 am
  • Ottawa Paramedic Service Headquarters at 2465 Don Reid Drive, at 9:00 am
  • Ottawa Fire Services Headquarters at 1445 Carling Avenue, at 9:35 am
  • OC Transpo Headquarters at 1500 St. Laurent Boulevard, at 10 am

Ottawa Police Services and the Emergency and Protective Services Department will host a free barbeque from 11:30 am until 2:00 pm at Marion Dewar Plaza, following the flag-raising ceremony. Donations to community charitable organizations will be accepted.

Weekend traffic impacts

Due to the Bank Street Fair and Capital Pride Parade next weekend, the following road closures will be in effect from Saturday, August 24 at 7 am until Sunday, August 25 at 11 pm.

  • Somerset Street, between Bank Street and O’Connor Street
  • Bank Street between Somerset Street and Gladstone Avenue
