答：如果目前的方法没用，可能会启用Federal Emergency Act。

记者：医疗系统有足够的口罩、呼吸机等必需品吗？

答：我们对加拿大供应能力有信心，会保证医疗系统有足够的必需品。

记者：很多公司不能开工，会持续多久？
答：我们不清楚，科学家也不能解答，因为要根据实际情况发展决定，但是，我们知道，自我隔离很重要，Social Distancing很重要，提高测试量很重要，
现在我们每天测试量会提高几万。

需要尽早严格隔离措施。如果社区的感染人群达到相当数量，social distance就失去效果了，因为如果空气中有足够多的病毒，或是公寓大楼，商场超市等等的中央循环系统中有足够多病毒，就可能失去控制，那样就会成邮轮感染传播模式。

Cases of COVID-19 community spread confirmed in Ottawa

Ottawa's medical officer of health, Vera Etches, has confirmed there are five confirmed cases of community transmission of COVID-19 in the nation's capital.

As many as 4,000 people could be infected in Ottawa, she said in a conference call Sunday.

Etches also confirmed that a healthcare worker at the Ottawa Hospital has tested positive for the virus and actions are being taken to trace any close contacts the person had inside and outside the healthcare system.

Ottawa Public Health is asking residents to maintain social distancing and is looking at additional steps to ensure people are only leaving their house for necessary reasons.

Ottawa's top doctor estimates 4,000 cases of COVID-19 in the city

Ottawa's Medical Officer of Health says there is laboratory confirmation of community transmission in Ottawa.

The Medical Officer of Health said Sunday that based on modelling data and the rate of transmission, “we now estimate there may be up to 4,000 cases of COVID-19 in our community.”


Dr. Etches warned the forecast for infection shows a doubling in the number of cases in Ottawa every three days.


“The doubling time, we’re seeing is sometimes down to three days, every three days now. By this time next week, it could be 16,000” cases in Ottawa.


Dr. Etches acknowledged the lab confirmed COVID-19 numbers are numbers from the past, due to delays with processing the test results.


“The challenge is the test results we get are from what happened in the past. People seem to fixate on the lab confirmed cases. What I’m using the estimate for is tell people, clarify, now it’s here and it’s here significantly and the actions we need to take are now."
