The City of Ottawa said Tuesday that an Orléans man confronted by a bylaw officer while kicking a soccer ball with his four-year-old autistic son in an empty field was given a warning, but not fined $700.
The warning was confirmed by Roger Chapman, Director, By-Law and Regulatory Services.

A Britannia man who was fined $880 on the weekend while walking his dog in Britannia Park is annoyed over what he feels is the city’s unclear messaging.
"Bylaw officers would not simply go in and go directly to someone who's stopped you know at a fountain or something like that," Watson said. "They actually would observe what the person is doing. And we've heard cases, for instance, of an individual that is walking their dog but … they're actually throwing the stick into the water."
