Aurora resident drowns, 2 children rescued after canoe capsizes on Galeairy Lake

The body of an Aurora man was recovered after a canoe carrying three people capsized Aug. 14 on a South Algonquin Township lake.

According to the information released Aug. 18 by the Killaloe OPP detachment, two children and a man were canoeing near a local beach on Galeairy Lake when their canoe capsized.

Police and other emergency personnel responded at 12:42 p.m. and two children were pulled from the water by a bystander. However, the man could not be rescued.

After a brief search of the lake by emergency crews, the body of 42-year-old Chunguan Zhao was recovered from the water. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both children were wearing life jackets. The man was not wearing a life-jacket.

一旦翻船以后需要另一个船，才能翻回来。

也就是说，一旦翻船很难自救。因此，lifejacket是必备的，

而且，canoe对波浪的抵抗力也不高。机动船尾波侧面掀翻canoe的可能性不可不防。有波浪过来，赶紧调整船头面对波峰。

canoe多人时，尤其是有小孩儿是，孩子可能会不小心偏离中心，大人去救，就会直接翻掉。

canoe钓鱼也要小心，遇到大鱼，说不定是鱼钓你。

我翻过两次。辛酸泪。

后来玩kayak了，比canoe要安全很多。

canoe只要注意重心，掌握上船落脚在船中间这一个简单技巧，就非常安全。我划canoe应该几百次了，只在很早以前上船的时候翻过一次，就是因为没有注意上船要落脚在船中间。除了那一次，以后就是浪再大，也没有翻过

这型canoe的一个特点是平底，转弯比较慢，但非常稳，就算是平行浪打过来，也很难翻

至于kayak，要平坐在船底，不太舒服，而且也太重

不过说到底，不会游泳或者技术不好，就得注意穿救生衣

我感觉好得多，而且就算翻了，也无所谓，自己就能翻回来。

呵呵呵，能翻回来倒是真的！

我也觉得kayak比较稳，我去佛州海里都划了一圈。canoe我自己一人时还好，一头一尾就差了很多，三人我只划过一次，差点翻，再没上过三人。
但是救生衣真的重要，我kayak常带两件。（一件用来当腰靠垫）
