办了枫叶卡，移民纸还有用吗？

我说的是2001年新移民法实施后入境的新移民.和你同学的情况不一样.

2) Immigrant Visa and Record of Landing (IMM 1000)
The document issued until June 27, 2002, the IMM 1000 Immigrant Visa and Record of Landing [see Appendix II, item 12(a)], may be presented for entry into Canada until June 26, 2003 (provided its period of validity has not expired).

The IMM 1000 document is being phased out as follows:

June 27, 2002 - last date of issue

June 26, 2003 - last possible date of validity as an immigrant visa

December 31, 2003 - Record of Landing (holder's copy of IMM 1000) is no longer valid for travel. The Permanent Resident Card must be used.

原来我那老同学是最后一批拿到IMM1000的，明白了

照你这么说他们就别回国内呆着了

At least, for now, not all the immigrants who are eligible to apply for citizenship have got their Landing Paper replaced by Maple Cards, but they all have Landing paper for sure. I guess that's why.

When I asked "中侨", they suggested me to keep the Landing paper, even I have maple card. They told me, even I'm retired,the Landing paper is original document. Maple card will be checked every five year.
