Last week, the OCDSB sent the following communication:

Mandatory eLearning Graduation Requirement and Opt-out Information

Last week, the Ministry of Education shared that students currently in grade 10 and below are subject to a new mandatory eLearning graduation requirement. These requirements were released and are explained in (PPM 167). Please note, current grade 10 students will receive one eLearning credit due to their experiences with pandemic learning, and current grade 11 and 12 students are exempted from the requirement and do not need to complete the opt-out form. The purpose is to provide students with access to a wider variety of courses, increase digital fluency and gain transferable skills to support lifelong learning.

What you need to know:

E-learning courses are delivered asynchronously (learning is not delivered in real time) and cannot include those earned through in-person learning (same e-learning course and same educator together), blended learning, or remote learning (includes part synchronous learning).
Frequently asked questions about the mandatory eLearning requirement and the opt-out process are available on the OCDSB website.
Current Grade 9 and 10 students who would like to opt-out of this requirement can do so using this form.
