Hiring Department: Wireless Technology ? Network Development (WTND)
Organization: CITO
The candidate will work on wireless OSS products and systems and develop their network architecture/solution evolution plan. The candidate will also be responsible to participate through the organisation the processes to obtain funding for his projects, i.e. WOSS business cases and document all new technology testing and evaluations. The ideal candidate should have been exposed to IS/IT organisations and their processes.
For the second posting only, the candidate should have been exposed to Database Modelling/Architecture and/or Storage Area Network (SAN) systems and architecture
Job Duties/ Accountabilities:
----------------------------------
The successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for the following:
- Develop WOSS Opportunity Assessments (OA)
- Create and sponsor WOSS Business Case (BC) related to project opportunities
- Responsible for creating concept, business requirements & design specifications documents in close collaboration with the internal customers (Bell Mobility, Aliant and other BCH Wireless Network Operation entities)
- Work with vendors in the design and development of new products
- Produce RFI, RFP, PRD, RFQ and provide support on contract negotiation
- Champion supplier selection and act as the primary interface with Suppliers and Engineering department
- Responsible for creating OSS standards and guidelines within the organisation
- Stay up-to-date with OSS technologies and standards
- Assume accountability and responsibility for the formulation of WOSS Projects
- Complete and document all new technology testing and evaluations
- Produce methods and procedures (MOP)
- Accountable for technology testing activities in lab and production environment
- Perform analysis on opportunity evaluations for impact to OSS applications
Qualifications/ Competencies:
----------------------------------------------
- Bachelor degree in the Telecommunication, Electrical, Communications or Systems Engineering field with emphasis on wireless technologies development and OSS Architecture Development or equivalent. MBA would be an asset.
- Minimum of 4 years experience in a engineering environment
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Telecommunication
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English, French is an asset)
- Good knowledge of OSS, Voice, Data, and RF systems
- Superior interpersonal skills, organizational and time management skills with ability to work with multiple team with proven track record
- Familiar with long term planning
- Ability to make decisions
- Knowledge of Nortel switches/BSMs/Logs/ operational Measurements would be an asset
- Knowledge of a CDMA/1XRTT wireless network including switching, access and transport areas would be an asset

- Knowledge of the Database Modelling/Architecture is an important asset
- Knowledge of the Storage Area Network (SAN) systems and architecture is an important asset
- Knowledge of multi-tiered software architecture including Java technologies, Sybase, Oracle DBMS and application servers would be an asset
