The deadline to return completed special mail-in ballots is Monday, October 24, at 4:30 pm. Voting Day for Ottawa’s 2022 Municipal Elections is just one week away
Reminder to return your special mail-in ballot by 4:30 pm on Monday, October 24.
If you applied for a special mail-in ballot between September 1 and September 16 and wish to vote by mail, you must return your completed ballot to the Elections Office or any Client Service Centre by Monday, October 24, at 4:30 pm in order for your vote to be counted. Any special ballots received after 4:30 pm on Monday, October 24, will not be counted.
Voting Day is one week away
Voting Day in the 2022 Municipal Elections is only one week away. On Monday, October 24, eligible electors will have the opportunity to cast their vote at their assigned voting place for the offices of Mayor, City Councillor and School Board Trustee.
Voting places are open from 10 am to 8 pm with the exception of long-term care centres and retirement homes which may have reduced hours. Electors can verify when and where they can vote on their voter notification letter or by using the Where Do I Vote? Tool on ottawa.ca/vote.
You can bring your voter notification letter with you to the voting place to expedite the voting process; however, it is not required in order for you to vote.
If you did not receive a voter notification letter, you can verify your information on the Voters’ List using the “Am I on the Voters’ List?” tool on ottawa.ca/vote, or by calling 3-1-1 or the Elections Office at 613-580-2660. If your name does not appear on the Voters’ List, or if you would like to amend your information, you can do so at your voting place on voting days. Applications to “Add or Amend my Information on the Voters’ List” will be available at every voting place and are easy to fill out on-site.
All electors will be required to present a piece of identification in order to receive a ballot at their voting place. The identification must show your name and qualifying Ottawa address. Photo identification is not required. If you cannot present an acceptable proof of identity and residence, you can make a statutory declaration prior to being issued a ballot.
All voting places are fully accessible. Visit ottawa.ca/vote or email elections@ottawa.ca for information about the accessibility tools available to electors at voting places.
Consider using transit to get to voting locations and use OC Transpo’s Travel Planner to plan your trip. Para Transpo customers can book up to one week in advance by calling 613-560-5000 for Voting Day on Monday, October 24. My Para Transpo can be used to book trips the day before.
