Hello everyone

Formed by a group of friends, the ottasaturdayfun group provides a place for fun-loving Chinese in Ottawa to make more friends and to have fun. We organize a broad range of activities, pingpang, badminton, karaoke, clubing, dancing, dinners, laser tag combat, swimming are a few examples of the activities we have enjoyed recently.

Current members are men and women from a broad spectrum of educational and professional backgrounds. Although, our current members are of Chinese origin, we welcome people from all cultrual backgrounds to join us.

Most of the activities have been organized for Saturdays, and thus the name, ottasaturdayfun.

No requirement on age. We are all under 40, I think.

Last Saturday, we went indoor wall climbing. I personally had never done that before, and had not thought much of it either, but thought I would try it for at least once. It turned out to be very exciting and a lot of fun.

We all climbed the beginner’s walls (green); then we started to challenge the more difficult walls. I tackled one of the more difficult walls, and I started climbing. The climbing was difficult. The knobs were small and flat. They were hard to grab on and they were far between. It demands high concentration. By the time I was reaching the top, my forearms became so sore; I had little control over them. I hung on to those tiny knobs with my sweaty, slippery fingers. and I used what's left of the strength trying to reach the top, but the top knob was very high, and I needed to take a leap. I leaped, and I fell off. That was the first time I fell. I didn't have much confidence in the rope, which was supposed to stop the fall and to save me. At that split moment, I saw the possibility of death by fall, and I thought, it would be a good death. But the rope stopped the fall. Swinging in the air, I felt great.

We went to a pub afterwards and had some drinks. Then we all gathered at a house and sang karaoke. It was a wonderful night.
