Nov 18 (Reuters) - Israel, the United States and Hamas have reached a tentative agreement to free dozens of women and children held hostage in Gaza in exchange for a five-day pause in fighting, the Washington Post reported on Saturday, citing people familiar with the deal.

As part of the detailed, six-page agreement, all parties would freeze combat operations for at least five days while "an initial 50 or more hostages are released in smaller groups every 24 hours", the Post reported. Hamas took about 240 hostages during its Oct. 7 rampage inside Israel that killed 1,200 people.

现在人们对加沙已经有开始的反应进入适应期。这几天可视为缓兵之计。也可谓将计就计让民众撤出为下步大规模进攻腾出空间

The Washington Post has reported that a deal that would see Hamas release dozens of hostages is imminent. The US and Israel have denied any such deal, but we've heard from Qatar that negotiators are ironing out minor issues in the deal.

Here's what each of the key players have said:

Qatar: "The challenges that remain in the negotiations are very minor compared to the bigger challenges, they are more logistical, they are more practical," Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman al-Thanisaid in a joint press conference with EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell. He added that he was "more confident that we are close enough to reach a deal".

The Washington Post: "Israel and Hamas are close to agreement on a US-brokered deal that would free dozens of women and children held hostage in Gaza in exchange for a five-day pause in fighting," the report said, citing "people familiar with the emerging terms".

The US: White House National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson posted on X: "We have not reached a deal yet, but we continue to work hard to get to a deal."

Israel: In a briefing last night, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said there were "a lot of incorrect reports about imminent agreements to free some or all of the roughly 240 people being held”. “As of now there is no deal,” he said

“Good progress” made in negotiations for hostages taken by Hamas, Qatari PM says

From CNN’s Martin Goillandeau

The leader of Qatar said "good progress" has been made during discussions for the release of hostages taken by Hamas, following the militant group's deadly incursion into southern Israel last month.
“The sticking points honestly at this stage are more practical, logistical, not really something that represents the core of the deal,” according to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, who has been mediating negotiations between Hamas and Israel.
“It is a long way, when you come closer to the goal you fell your confidence levels are increasing, and we hope that we are reaching to that point,” Sheikh Mohammed told reporters in a joint press conference with the European Union’s top diplomat Josep Borrell, in Doha.
“The deal is going through ups on downs from time to time throughout the last few weeks, but I that I’m more confident that we are close enough to reach a deal that can bring the people back to their homes,” he said, adding there are "logistical" challenges ahead.
“We’ve been focused in the past four to five weeks now in these negotiations, we’ve tried every way, all possible ways in order to ensure that civilians are released, and we think all human beings are the same,” the Qatari leader said.
Some context: Pressure is growing on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reach a deal for the safe return of about 240 people abducted by Hamas on October 7, when at least 1,200 people were killed.
On Saturday, the Israeli leader denied reports that Israel was considering a proposal for the release of at least 50 abductees, saying that when the government had something to say, they would report it.
