Dr. Ge's resignation letter is miles better than Dr Freedhoff's resignation letter.
Dr, Ge wrote twice, in the first paragraph of his resignation letter," I'm writing to you..." to emphasize it all of these happened in the territory of "the settler colonial state of Canada".
Dr. Ge. wrote; " The CMA has taken a stance they consider “neutral” in the face of ongoing Israeli apartheid and genocide. ... I cannot in good conscience remain a board director that upholds the primary purpose of being a “key enabler and champion of CMA mission and vision”. This is an impossible situation for me to be in. Being neutral in the face of structural oppression and settler colonialism is taking the side of the oppressor. I refuse to be a bystander and cannot in good conscience support the CMA as it continues to be a bystander on this human rights issue." ( assimilate settler colonialism to Zionism.)
When up to him personally, Dr, Ge wrote: I experienced bullying, harassment, and intimidation from multiple people within CMA leadership.... Instead of being first and foremost being seen as a “human being”, I was being managed as a “risk” to the organization. I believe what I have experienced is a failure of the CMA leadership....
Dr. Ge further wrote: " I will continue to do what I know is right, and work to learn and grow through respectful dialogue with others." ( moral high ground)
Whereas, Dr. Freedhoff began with "Blood libels" summarized from the US Holocaust Museum and then accused social media, global news media, and CMA of running and condemning an unverified story on Israel bombing a hospital in Gaza killing 500 Palestinians as a new blood libel. Multiple Jewish physicians, including him, spoke up asking for corrections and clarity. As a result, the CMA’s President blocked him on Twitter. ( he did not mention whether other Jewish physicians were blocked or not).
Then Dr. Freedhooff further wrote, " Clearly the CMA does not represent or support its Jewish members. (sounds like CMA must support its Jewish members) Moreover, by blocking me on Twitter for expressing my concern explicitly the CMA does not support me and consequently, I am requested that my membership in the CMA be cancelled and that a full refund for my 2023-2024 dues be processed immediately." (purely protesting, and there is a minor grammar error)
