If the government needs to stimulate the economy by helicoptering money directly to citizens, that's an option to consider. Many countries have implemented those measures during the pandemic, provided that debts and deficits are not a concern.
However, I don't believe that making certain items exempt from HST will be very effective in stimulating the economy. Rather, it aims to "buy vote". Some merchants might raise prices by more than 13%, or they may stop offering discounts on items already planned for sale. Consequently, it could lead to higher inflation rather than any real benefit.
I would prefer that this Guy not do anything and simply let the time pass, as everything he has touched has turned into a mess.
Please, leave us alone and let the market operate freely according to demand. If he insists on doing something, he can go somewhere to fuck himself.
