今天在单位泡了一壶 Orange Pekoe tea, 问同事Pekoe 啥意思,没人知道,我来搜搜 :)

What does pekoe mean in tea?
A white tea with white "hairs" plainly visible on its surface. The origin of the word "pekoe" is uncertain. One explanation is that it is derived from the transliterated mispronunciation of the Amoy (Xiamen) dialect word for a Chinese tea known as "white down/hair" (白毫; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: pe̍h-ho).

Why is black tea called Orange Pekoe?
The Dutch royal family belonged to the House of Orange. The Dutch East India Company brought teas to Europe, setting aside the best black teas for the royals. The story goes that when this tea became accessible to the public, people nicknamed it the 'orange' pekoe for its association with the royal family

In the Amoy (Xiamen) dialect of Hokkien, the word for tea is tê (pronounced like "tay" or "teh"). This pronunciation is distinct from the Mandarin Chinese word for tea, which is "chá". The Amoy (Xiamen) dialect is a Min Nan language spoken in the region around Xiamen and was a major port for tea trade with Europe, which is why the "te" pronunciation is the origin of the English word "tea".

最出名的来源于中国的是Ketchup:
Ketchup originated in China as a fermented fish sauce called "ke-tsiap".

"Kê-tsiap" (also written as "ke-tsiap") is the Hokkien Chinese word that is believed to be the origin of the word "ketchup". It refers to a type of fermented fish sauce that was popular in Southeast Asia. European traders encountered this sauce, likely in Southeast Asia, and brought it back to Europe, where they tried to replicate it, eventually leading to the development of the tomato-based condiment we know toda

当年中国是老外模仿的对象,文化大国,他们特别喜欢中国的鱼酱,然后像现在中国一样,拼命山寨中国的鱼酱,后来就进化成Ketchup
