Trump called the advert "FAKE" while The Ronald Reagan Foundation said it "misrepresents" the former president's address.
While the minute-long advert only includes excerpts from the original, five-minute-long address, it does not alter Reagan's words. It does however alter the order in which he made the comments.
He says in the original speech: "Imposing such tariffs or trade barriers and restrictions of any kind are steps that I am loath to take. And in a moment I'll mention the sound economic reasons for this: that over the long run such trade barriers hurt every American worker and consumer."

Ford is almost as stupid as Trudeau. The only difference is that Ford listens, but Trudeau didn't listen, and he thinks he knows and can do everything. Ford, in this regard, listened to the bad advice and did something stupid. Why? It is obvious.
1) Trump said ad tried to influence the court's decisions. That is not the case. I don't think the courts' decision will be influenced by the ad. However, it could be regarded as trying to influence the midterm election --- foreign interference,
2) On the other hand, Ford obviously did not realize that putting an ad regarding the government's trade policies could be interpreted as Canada subtly considering itself as the 51st state of the United States if #1 were not the case.
Spent $75 M on this ad. Can those elected politicians do something better for their voters?
