For more than 45 years, Grandeur Park has been home to the Belltown Dome, a popular ice-skating venue in the Britannia area that supported hockey in the winter and lacrosse and floor hockey in the summer. As the facility reaches the end of its operational life, this popular site is ready for a new look, and the City is asking residents for their input and vision on what a refreshed space could look like and how it can better support the community’s recreational and activity needs.

The City is launching a community-focused engagement process to understand what matters most to the neighbourhood. The goal is to ensure the site continues to offer accessible, walkable amenities that reflect the needs of the people who use it every day. Residents can comment on illustrative concepts, suggest changes or additions or share new ideas. Engagement will explore both short-term and long-term possibilities.

Short-term options focus on removing the building and improving and repurposing the outdoor area to support year-round activity, new play experiences and flexible community use. Concepts include:

  • Keeping the existing concrete rink surface to serve as an enhanced outdoor rink and summer basketball court an inclusive adventure playground designed for all ages and abilities, with climbing towers, ziplines, disc swings and nature-based play areas.
  • A water play and exploration zone that incorporates interactive water jets, mist tunnels, boulders and water pumps.
  • A destination skateboarding and pump track park featuring street and bowl skate areas, a bike and scooter pump track and shaded seating.
  • An outdoor parkour and obstacle course zone offering concrete and steel structures, ropes and rails for youth and adults.

Long-term options focus on establishing new indoor facilities paired with smaller outdoor features, creating a permanent, multi-season hub. These include:

  • A community building with multi-purpose rooms for flexible programming, a kitchen, accessible washrooms.
  • A gymnasium and recreation centre offering a full-size gym, change rooms, and a small multi-purpose room.

Consultations will take place from November 26 to February 26, 2026, with opportunities to participate online through Engage Ottawa or at open house sessions. Dates for these sessions will be announced on Engage Ottawa. Community feedback will help identify a preferred direction, support planning work and shape the park's next chapter.

For more than four decades, the Belltown Dome has been part of Ottawa's Bay Ward. Now, residents have the opportunity to reimagine what comes next and help create a space that continues to welcome and support the neighbourhood for years to come.

Share your ideas for the Grandeur Park at Engage Ottawa.
