我在一个很偶然的机会里认识Eric Lalonde。 他看上去很普通，话也不多，不像是个很个很外向的人。在我们第一次接触的过程中，他唯一给我留下的印象是他的握手。 那有力的一握使我想起了Hillary Clinton在<Living History>里写到的：有力的握手是通向成功的必备条件。
在和朋友聊天的时候才知道，他是法律系的学生，而且在两年前曾做过SFUO的财政部部长。在和他接触过几次之后，就慢慢地觉得他是个挺沉稳的人。说得不多，但是做事还算干净利落。在去年12月，当我知道他有意向要竞选学生会主席的时候，就半开玩笑地问了他几个问题关于SFUO和中国来的学生之间的关系。他当时并没有给我明确的答复。但出乎我意料的是，在我一月份再碰到他的时候，他告诉我他在竞选的网站上特地为中国学生作了一个页面。
说真的，我不知道它的诚诺究竟有多少会真正兑现。但是，在得知他为中国学生做了一个页面的那一瞬间，我意识到我们中国人在渥太华大学的地位要比我们自己想象的高，而且，只要我们愿意，我们能从和SFUO的合作里，得到我们原来想象不到的利益。

According to Eric Lalonde, presidential candidate, the SFUO take more care of the international students. Among the International students, Chinese is the biggest group. Chinese also is the third biggest linguistic group on campus. The SFUO should work closely with the Chinese community to make sure that they are able to be well represented. It is important the SFUO offer the Chinese student different ways of acquiring job experience in all kind of field: Computers, Teaching, Finance, etc. Creating scholarship for international student is an other project in Eric's platform. With the help of the Chinese community, the SFUO could create a scholarship especially for Chinese student.
