Police confirm Cecilia Zhang's body found

Police have confirmed the discovery of the remains of Cecilia Zhang in a ravine near Toronto. The nine-year-old girl was taken from her family home last Oct. 20, and a hiker found the remains yesterday in a gully in Mississauga.
Forensic experts were called to a ravine west of Toronto on Saturday after the discovery of a body.
Police were tight-lipped on the investigation, earlier in the day, as investigators combed the ravine for evidence.
The skeletal remains were sent to Toronto's Centre for Forensic Sciences for further an autopsy and identification.
Toronto police were at the Zhang home on Sunday to offer the family support in dealing with the media.
It's thought the body may have been obscured by snow and ice in the ravine, and only became visible after recent warm temperatures melted surrounding snow.
Zhang was last seen in her north-Toronto home as she went to bed on a Sunday night in October. Her parents awoke Monday to find her missing, sparking a massive but fruitless search.
A back window screen was found ajar in the Zhang home, leading to the abduction theory.
Investigators speculated that Zhang may have been kidnapped for profit, but no ransom claim has ever been made public.
Zhang's parents, Sherry Xu and Raymond Zhang, had raised $85,000 in reward money.
They were planning to mark celebrate their daughter's 10th birthday on Tuesday by inviting Cecilia's friends, neighbours and teachers to their home, in an attempt to keep the media spotlight on Cecilia's disappearance.
