冬瓜 is needed to plant from indoor and replant to outdoor sometime
around May.

Would anyone have better knowledge about planting 冬瓜,I would like
to learn more about how to plant them?

My grandma in Toronto is an expert in that I think. Every year she harveys a lot of wintermelon and keeps them all year round to eat. I don't know how she does it though, because I don't plant it myself. If you really want to know I may ask her.

Would you please asking her for me and I wish your mother and your grandma have a happy mother's day this Sunndy.

I asked her, but the tips seems not extraordianry, just kind of like normal stuffs, such as:

*Use more soil to cover up the root high and well
*Pruning the branches, keep the strongest branch only
*More fertilizer
*搭架子to support the branches
*捏掉something(I don't get what exactly that "something is", I asked her several time, I just don't get it, I guess I have to see the wintermelon and ask her to point that out in oder for me know, because I don't remember how a wintermelon is like growing in the branches) after 冬瓜出来不久. I guess this point is not really important.

That is pretty much all I can get out of her and all she has. Seems common senses staffs, hope it will help.

she only plant a small area and she already can get alot of wintermelons, so I guess, wintermelons is very easy to grow here.
too bad, my yard is too tiny to plant anything in ottawa, otherwise, I will plant as well. Yummy wintermelons.........

So relax, you are probably very well on your way to grow lots of wintermelons
Happy mother's day to your mother and your grandma as well.

冬瓜 seems non-perishable as well. After harvey, you can keep it for months and months and still as good as fresh. it is amazing.

Many thanks.

I will try to follow the tips and see what will happans.

Thank you for you information in about 冬瓜.
I did plant my first 冬瓜 last year and weight about 35 pounds.I would like to try to plant the round shape type instead of the cylindrical one this year.
I am going to let you know about my harvest in October.

Thank you for your sharing in 冬瓜.
