My friend received a speeding ticket for over $170.00 in Montreal. At that time, he was accused to overspeed at 139km/h. Is there any chance for him to dispute the ticket? This is his first ticket and he does not have any experience. Any input will be highly appreciated.

Not my own experience, some firends told me.
1. If he deicde to go to court, and decide to accept the guilty charge, but tell the judge he's short in cash, he may get a 50% discount in fine.
2. If he want to remove the points, he need to contact some ticket company, which will charge you more than $200, but it can remove your points. Which may keep his insurance unchanged.
I think the $175 for 139km/h should be in the highway (100km.h). If it's in a 60km/h city road, 139km/h is enough to put him into jael or revoke his license.
