I'm not saying driving is not necessary for all people.
Everyone has everyone's own case. There's no universal solution. And you will encounter some problems when you switch to another transportion method. Lot's of them could be worked out if you
spend some time.
In my case, I used to spend 15-20 mins drive to work one way, and then spend 60 mins to exercise per day. That's 100 mins a day. One day, I told myself, what the heck, I could do both the exercise and the commuting at the same time. Now, I spend 25-30 mins cycling to work and there's no extra exercise needed to keep in shape on weekdays. That's 60 mins a day.
