R can be written once, just like CD-R
RW means u can write it as many times as u like like CD-RW
of course R is faster than RW, but remember R is a one-time-only
- came out before +, however + is supported by more DVD players (it's more compatible)
+ is newer technology, faster burning, however the media is a bit more expensive than - media
I dun remember which company supports which format. but i know Dell is a big supporter of + (in fact i think they've invested $$)
but - now is a bit more popular
