Actually, a good question! The situation here is not same as we were in China.
If you go to a bank that you don't have account with them, I am at least 99% sure that they will not look after you; if you go to your bank, they may (50%) count the coins for you - but I am not so sure
Another option is to go to those grocery stores such as FoodBasic/Lob Lows, where they have those "CoinSmart" machines. You can use machines to get your coins counted and exchanged to CASH or CREDIT for that store. Please NOTE you will need to pay a % fee for the service.
Last option, search google "how to exchange my coins to bill in Canada"
