Because these women felt that they had nowhere to go! They were made to believe that they are worthless, and that they can't survive on their own. In most cases, the victims were also being threatened of their lives by their abusers, or the lives of their children or loved ones. Police isn't there to help them, social servies isn't there to help them, they have NO ONE, NO ONE!

You have to remember this is a completely domination/submission situation, these women often have very little education, absolutely no money and most importantly no self-esteem. WHY? They were told so, through years and years of verbal and mental abuse.

What would you do?

Have you watched Silence of the Lambs before? Remember Dr. Hannibal talked his next cellmate into committing suicide? I don't doubt for one second that this could be true. Mental abuse is the worst kind of all abuses, that's why so many people have been devastated and have committed suicide in the Cultural Revolution.

The mind is both powerful and fragile.
