唉,这个也开始要钱了. 不知道俱乐部收了钱能给普通的会员什么样的服务呢? 我觉得学校给提供了一段时间的场地,大家就随意的去活动一下挺好的,. 即使你们成立了俱乐部,向学校申请了一些经费,那也不关我们的事,为什么还要收我们的钱呢. 能否给我们解释一下你们资金的用途呢?
Hi friend, I understand your feeling. Since school have been sucking us so much money already, why should we need to pay more extra money. I have the same thinking as you do before. I wanted to let every student just come into the court and enjoy badminton without paying as well. Well, let me answer your questions here first.

First of all, under the policy, school Gym will not provide you a spot unless you are a club or you pay them to book the court every time.

If we don't keep running the Badminton club, then CUSA will cancel our name from their club list. Then there will be no spot provided for Badminton player anymore.

According to CUSA, this is our responsible to provide nets, reserve rackets and birdies. For your information, according to previous Badminton club president, CUSA did provide some money last year, but that's just good enough to cover the fee for the gym only. (Just keep in mind that there is no free lunch in this world. You need to pay the Gym for using the court.) That's why last year some of you have to bring your own birdies because our club was out of money to purchase new birdies anymore.
Besides, a row of birdies (contain 6 balls inside) cost around $15. Every sunday, each court(for only intermedia player only, not advance player yet) destroy at least 2 birdies. And there are 6 courts there. Also, it's sad to say that, but some members did steal our birdies when they go home. so you can imagine how much money we need to put in here.
Besides, we also need to purchase new rackets because someone broke into our gym locker and stole all the rackets and birdies during summer.
Also, we need to rent a gym locker to store all the nets, rackets and birdies as well.
So, to be honest, I still doubt if we can cover all this expenses with the membership fee yet. Let's imagine, if there are 30 members, and we have only 30*$5 = $150. Would you please let me know what you think if you are in my situation? The best thing I can come out with is just we might need to hold a fundraising at the end of the semester or something.
To be honest, we have been through a lot of problem since the school start this sem, such as locker got broke in, gym time conflict, CUSA affair, money stuffs and etc. And now, we pretty much solve most of the problems and are ready to provide our service to you. Just keep in mind that, all our committees do this as volunteer. We don't get pay at all. We also have our study stuffs, work and life to go on. But we still put our time and effort to run the club just because we like this game and this is our recreation which we don't want to lose.
And also, I am just an ordinary student like you and this is my first time running the club. I want to try my best to be a good leader and provide the best service I can. To be honest, I have to admit that I am not good enough for this position and there is still a lot of thing I need to learn and get support from you. So, if you have any good suggestion for me to improve the club, please do not hesitate to let me know. I personally really appreciate your suggestion.
Besides, if you insist not to pay the membership fee, you are still welcome to come to play as well. Because our club is non profit club after all, we don't do this for money, but for Badminton lovers. As long as you like the game, but don't have money to pay, just let us know. We will trying to collect money among us for you.
