Existing home sales break records in July

Uncertainty about stock market performance continued to fuel investment
in homes in July, the Canadian Real Estate Association is reporting.
In fact, existing home sales reached record levels on a national basis and in
all provinces east of Manitoba.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, 32,321 homes changed hands in July, up 3.4
per cent from the same period last year and up 0.5 per cent from June.
The average selling price of MLS homes rose by six per cent on an adjusted
annual basis in July to $186,522.
Sales for the first seven months of the year were up 19.3 per cent over the
same period last year.
