电汇is wire transfer. usually takes 2-4 business days.I used personal check before, it takes around 20 days for the payee to get the RMB. Not bad.

It's not guaranteed. Sometimes it takes you like 20-30 days, but sometime is up to 3 months! I experienced both of them. If you are urgent, just use CIBC wire transfer, it takes you 2 days and I did that several times.

Forgot to mention, you'd better give the teller the SWIFT CODE of the receiver's bank. It can be obtained from the bank in China.

Why get RMB? Not CA $?
