okay, the company is a small company called Fortenet. I am not sure if
I spelled it correctly. My classmate is the only person without a CCIE
in his group. CCIE only means you are familiar with cisco routers. Why
do we need so many CCIEs?

=======================================
Is it Fortinet? i remember this company is founded by the guy who founded the NetScreen (now part of Juniper).
A real CCIE is not just familair with "Cisco router", there is a lot more. But if you work in the ip routing area, familiar with Cisco router is necessary. For example, most other vendors like NT and ALA mimic either IOS or Junos's CLI:)
BTW. How do you guys know how many CCIEs in Canada? any website? So how many are there in China?
I met some ppl just passed CCIE written exam, but not the lab exam.

What else can a CCIE do? I really interested. Does cisco open their
source code? If not, only master their CLI will not help you a lot.
You can sure build and maintain a good, maybe Sophisticated network
using the routers, switches etc. And provide diverse services using
your network. But still it only shows you are an expert in maintaining
and utilizing the network. What else?
Furthermore, how many company in canada own such big network and need
a CCIE to work for them?
I don't want to offense anybody. just curious. And, is it worthy to
put a lot of effort and money to get CCIE?

You did not get my points. First of all, you can't just go to any "trainning company" to get a CCIE, they are not only expensive, but also require a very strong networking background, most people are not even close. That's not just a certificate like MCSE or something you can buy.

My job is related to ATM/IP solutions, so I know how hard it is to build a large scale IP network and trouble-shooting it. Check in Cisco web site by yourself. There are about 400 CCIE in Canda, 1000 in China. Totoaly there are about 10,000 CCIE's. Do you mean have of them are new immigrant from china? I don't think so.

One thing I don't get is why some people always make everything much bigger than it sounds. "因为周围一圈CISCO的受害者,才如此确切这个玩意的 害人结果,如果你不怕国人都自相残杀你就尽管上!!
央央中华儿女,竟然非要到如此宿命!!" Take it easy.

This is a technical question, then, help the guy who ask with technical things. That's it.

statistics of CCIE in the world

Now it is not a good time for CCIEs in Canada who come from China. Many of my friends with CCIE certificates could not find a job here. But the reason is not the technical skills and not the value of the certificate. The certificate itself is one of the best certificate in the world in this area. The statistics of CCIE in the world can be found at:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/learning/le3/ccie/certified_ccies/worldwide.html

Generally, CCIEs (do not include those guys just pass the writen exam) are for senior positions. They play more important roles in management, esp. communications with customers and other employees, preparation of lots of documentations, etc. than in pure technology.

Thus if your English (both oral and writen) is not better than at least the average level of native people, you can hardly find any opportunity even you are a CCIE. Sometimes, it is even worse than people with middle level certificates.

You don't need to have CCO account to know the CCIE population.

if you are young that's a good way to take CCIE although it's expensive in most English school ,how about chinese trainnig school, may a thousand can cover.

My team has more than 20 people to support enterprise VoIP network. ONLY 1 CCNP and 3 CCNA. As a new comer English is the most important certificate for a joB.( 1 CCNA got laid off last Tuesday ).
