I heard the news last night from Bruce Roney, director of the Ottawa Humane Society, that almost 25% of abandoned cats came from the owners, and the overwhelming reason for giving up the cat is "allergy". Mr. Roney believed that was not the case, but only because that was "the most socially acceptable reason".

Be a responsible pet owner, many people in this forum are.
