I am a canadian citizen, currently working in USA under a TN1 visa. It is a time to file tax return again, I can choose to file US tax since the tax rate is lower in US, but does anyone know if it has any negative impact provided that will I return and reside in Canada in future. Do I have to repay the tax rate difference between the two nations and interest? Thanks in advance

" I can choose to file US tax" - What do you mean? Can you "choose" not file Canadian return? If yes, why do you still have question?

The point is not "can choose or not", the point is "Do you have obligation to file Canadian return?"

If you don't have to file, you don't need to file. If you have to file, you can NOT CHOOSE not to file!
