There is really no easy way out to select a good breeder other than visit the farm where the puppies are raised and talk to the breeders.
Good breeders genuinely CARE for each dog they are raising, so they'll ask tons of questions to ensure that their dog will get the best care possible.
Good breeders usually have a waiting list, so you can't just walk away with a puppy right away.
Good breeders don't advertize in newspapers, because they don't need to, they get enough buyers just from referrals.
Start your search from professional associations like CKC, Ottawa Kennel Club, your local breed club, etc.
Just DON'T take the easy way, and that's is buying from a pet store or newspaper.
