Hello, my friends,
How are you today?
Recently, something has happened to me and it has totally affected my life. As most of you are aware, I sponsored my parents for immigration to Canada in May of 2003. At that time, my father received an official letter from the Canadian Embassy in Beijing, clearly indicating that the processing time is 18 MONTHS. However, a couple of months later, I found on the CIC website it was changed to 24 MONTHS from May '03. My parents had never received any official notification from the Canadian visa office regarding the delay, and they totally trusted the first official letters' information. Half a year more for processing time was acceptable at that time because we tried to understand and support the Governments' working schedule. Heartbreakingly, in December 2004, the Canadian visa office replied to my e-mail and told me that they had delayed my parents’ case, now 34 MONTHS from May03. Plus this time frame is not guaranteed at all. As a child, I can't tolerate such inhumane treatment to my parents; therefore, I have decided to fight for our right this time.
I am not alone; there are a large group of people from all over the world who sponsored their parents, and all of us paid the application fees, and landing fees (even though our parents are not landing yet) before they accepted our applications.
Since the Canadian Government already checked our financial and working information to ensure we have the ability to fully support our parents for 10 years, logically parental immigration cases are suppose to be very simple cases. Oppositely, our parents have to wait such a ridiculously long time (or never) to reunite with us in Canada.
We plan to have a legal protest with police permission on March 25, 2005 at 11:00am in front of Minister Joe Volpe's office located at Lawrance/Bathurst in North York, GTA.
We need your voice, support and ideas, please come and join us if you think the Government is doing a dishonest action to our parents. And kindly conform with me if you will come to the protest.
If you can't come on that day, then please help me to pass this message to other people who may be in the same situation as me. Or you can visit our website at www.sponseryourparents.ca
Thank you for your time.
Yours truly,
Kalen Liang
