Yes you can cancel, they must give you an option to cancel, and if they don't contact you within 10 days, it's considered cancelled.

Once confirmed, you can't cancel, it's a contract. 29.x is not too bad, since gas is at 31.x now.

So this is what I understand:

Enbridge is a "producer", they dig holes, build pipes to get gas into your house.

Enbridge also have "marketing company" to sell gas to you, the government want to "open the energy market", so other marketing company like DE can sell gas to you too (they buy gas wholesale from enbridge I guess).

This like bell have the phone line to your hose, but you still can sign someone else for your phone services...

Directenergy is our gas supplier, they also do the service for furnace and hot water tank. :blink:

No Enbridge still sends you bill, it's the same bill only marked - "as specified in your contract from your gas supplier), and I believe you can transfer your contract to another location when you move (unless you move out of the country or their service area).

for the 5 year flat rate, they will have to call you back to confirm since you don't have your first gas bill yet, you could wait till that time to decide if you want to lock or not.

Once you locked, you will need to use that contract for 5 years, but there are someways to work it out in case the gas price went done and you don't want contract anymore.
