Sympatico ADSL Service question[问题]

从技术层面说ADSL并不需要电话线上有普通电话服务。但是加拿大供应商们却没有一个提供不需要residential number的ADSL服务。现在有一个问题，如果我由Residential phone service + Sympatico ADSL，某个时候我取消了residential phone service，那么我的ADSL还存不存在？有没有ISP们准备推出类似的服务？

电话线是bell维护的, ISP要通过bell才能提供DSL服务.

But using cable, you still need phone service until maybe Rogers has VOIP in their service.

Bell敛财 has not fault, they are making money in the scope of regulation.

Of course I am switching over to some VOIP service provider, maybe not Rogers(there are a bunch of VOIP providers in the market, someo of which are really good), it is reason why I want to get rid of my traditional residential phone service while retaining the high speed internet.

From the perspective of price, traditional PSTN can not compete with VOIP, but the PSTN do offer better quality while at the same time, VOIP is catching up pretty quickly.

I think to make things work out better, Bell and telus should roll out some competing VOIP service since they own the network.

What's the point?

Bell phone, $25, + ADSL $32 = $57 (inc. tax)

Rogers cable internet $45, $10 for voip?

Cable internet 29.95+7% tax, VOIP, mostly 15 + tax
Why should you go for Rogers while there are some other choices in the cable internet market. Try http://www.canadianisp.ca/

Then that saves around $120 a year. Enough for some hardware upgrade.

32的ADSL是lite,不是高速的吧

Nope. Plenty of ADSL ISPs provide 3Mbps service for $29.95 in Ottawa.

对，不光很多，就连bell也有，我就在用$29。95 for 12 months的，3M down 800kbps up，不经过代理，麻烦也少,bell phone在我的地区确实是25 inc. tax的

喜欢voip那些很fancy的功能，传统PSTN SS7很少见提供的。什么紧急的事情，用手机吧。反正这里很多人都用prepaid的手机的。

我最喜欢的就是号码是portable的。

你又不是SALES,再说，你跑到哪里都要带上你的电话和那个盒子，然后到处找网络。
你可以买Cisco 7920,还是无限的呢
