How to register
First, we would recommend that you take a free placement test, so we can find the class that best matches your level and expectations. Call our office (234-9470) for an appointment. The sooner the better as classes are filling up quickly. As registration continues, we might find somebody else looking for the same times and be able to offer you an alternative.
Membership
When you register for a class, you automatically become a member of the Alliance Francaise. With your membership, you may benefit from the services we offer:
- unlimited borrowing privileges (video/audio/reading materials) at our Media and Resource Center
- free access to Internet
- discounts on admission to our cultural events (performances, concerts, conferences, trips, etc...)
(Annual membership cards are available at the reception desk)
Cost
Group classes : $ 325 (Please refer to the schedule for course offerings)
*Fee includes the course material and a membership card (valid for a year), which may be used at our Media and Resource center.
For other programs, consult the Calendar
Registration fee for subsequent courses (of the same level) taken within the same year - $ 275
Private classes : hourly rates for one student (hourly rate for 2 or more students, available upon request)

Placement test
If you are a new student to the Alliance Française and you have studied French before, call 234-9470 for a free placement test, to ensure that you register for a class that will best match your level
These are held three weeks before the beginning of each new session from 9 am to 6:30 pm. Special arrangements can be made if necessary.

Group classes: 16 different courses
Beginner Level
Courses 101 and 102 : (24 hours each)
Introduction to the basic structures of the language with emphasis on oral expression and grammar.
Elementary Level
Courses 103 and 104 : (24 hours each)
Completion of the basic language structures to provide students with a greater sense of confidence in simple everyday conversations. Leads to CEFP I certificate.
Intermediate Level
Courses 201, 202, 203 and 204 : (24 hours each)
Focus on a wider range of grammatical structures and vocabulary for students to be able to communicate with increasing fluency. Leads to CEFP II certificate.
Advanced Level
Courses 301, 302, 303 and 304 : (24 hours each)
Attention is placed on using the language with greater ease, both spoken and written, in a variety of social and work-related situations. Leads to international diploma - Diplome de Langue.
Superior Level
Courses 401, 402, 403,404 : (24 hours each)
Emphasis on maintaining fluency in both written and spoken French. Leads to international diploma.
