Hi, heard yesterday that now it takes 2 years to get citizenship from the time you submited your application. !!!!
Is this true? Anybody who has recently got his/her citizenship, and how long did the process take?

Please kindly share the time frame with us, as this maybe very helpful to most of us.

I submitted application at the end of January of 2002.
I was asked finger-print in May, but no more news after that.
I am patient anyway.

only 笔试,you can leave and come back when you receive testing notice.

prerequisite for finding a decent job

Not only the matter of being able to leave Canada or not, Canadian citizenship is, most of the time if not always, the prerequisite for finding a decent job here, especially if you look for work for the federal government.

Without citizenship, the job application won't go any further into the pre-selection process.

Sigh.

The citizenship only used to find a job in government. Other than that, most company don't care if you are citizen or not, as long as you are legally permitted to work here.
But it will be a big help if you want to find a work in US, or at least you can save the visa fee for travelling ...
