FALL COLOUR REPORT
As of Sunday October 6, 2002
Fall colour has reached a peak along Highway 60. In the vicinity of the West Gate, peak colour was reached a few days ago. Elsewhere along the highway, the colours are currently at peak. Despite the fact that the maple leaves have reached a peak and have begun falling from the trees, the spectacle of fall colour in Algonquin will still persist for another couple of weeks. Although not as spectacular as the oranges and reds of the maples, the yellow of aspens and the reddish-brown of oaks still provides beautiful viewing conditions. Also, the golden yellow of the Tamaracks (our only coniferous tree to loose its needles) is a spectacle of its own.
