I just came back from Cuba. I thought it would be nice to share some photos I took in Cuba. I have no intention of anything but to purely share my person impression of Cuba. Hopefully, I could unveil Cuba a bit. Although this more suitable to be posted on the Ottawa Forum, but I like people in this forum more. no critics with profanities to say the least. :-D

All right, let me start...

the resort

The resort I stayed was "Barcelo Solymar". It is a 5 star resort, although tourists would rate it as 4.5. As for my mother, she would give only 3 stars. :0

I have no complaints about this resort. It is absolutely a beauty, from any angle, period! I love every piece of it.

The food are ok type to me. Some people hates it, some loves it. no one has the same taste. you need to try yourself.

This is the lobby area.

another lobby area shot from the top floor.

Isn't it beatiful? see those green thing? they are real!

exterior of the hotel

this is only a corner of its. I think the hotel must accommodate more than a thousand of tourists. Its main building is large already, it also has many houses too.

pool bar at night

drinking here is a joy.

air, beach and the sea...

I was first impressed by the beautiful resort, then I found something even better - the thing that makes Cuba, Cuba. you know what I mean. The sun, white sand beach and crystal blue sea. and yes, the fresh air too. how can i forget that one. there was no polution at all. wind just breezes across the island of Varadero from one side to another. After all those, I found it was the air, the smell of the air that finally stayed in my memory.

the sunset

a row of horse riders passed by sliently....

an restaurant by sea

in this restaurant, I met four interesting people. a couple of young lovers, French. We chatted a little bit, since they don't speak in English very well, and I don't know French at all. They smoked a lot. I actually never saw them a moment without cigarettes. belive or not, I once saw the man had two at the same time.

Then I turned to the couple that sit besides me. They are English from London. A talker mother and a sweat daughter. It was about 28 degree and a bit windy. They told me that they were cold even wrapped in a big swim towel. I lent my swim towel to them then I told them what Canadian definition of "cold". apparently they were shocked. :-D

I like this one. It will be even better if you can crop it slightly by removing the 2 chairs at the side.

Thanks for sharing. It reminded me the good time I spent there. Man I need another vacation. :D

the sea was not always mild.

the last two days of my vacation, the red flag raised everywhere. It means, no swim today. :-(

sea sun and beach is not all Cuba about

So here are some buildings. They are just as real as the sea and beach.

a Bar in Varadero

Cuban house.

not many people live in this type of houses though. Cuba is very much a China two decades ago. Many people live in a very crappy apartment. Really, When I was touring in Havana new city, I thought the city just got an earthquake. no buildings without cracks. I got quite concerned about the people living in those buildings at the end.

but not this one though. :-D

Did I mentioned that there was no real estate trade in Cuba? It is illegal to sell or buy house or aparts. They all belongs to the government. sounds like China more and more, right? what if the little apartments does not fit a growing family? I was told that people can exchange their living places. Certainly, the bigger house "owner" will make some money of it. but the money is traded under the table also.

musicians

They just sang along, no matter you gave changes or not.

The Jesus statue

This statue over looks Havana.

By the way, different from China, Cubans are free to believe. Most Cubans are Catholic. Although, there is a story behind this statue, I never really believe it though.
