我在加拿大探亲，要去美国应在哪里签证？

我的签证是visitor，在美国的一个朋友生了孩子，想去看看她。我该在哪儿签证啊？容易通过吗？
美国那个朋友说我不要签证，在海关就可以办好手续了。是吗？我可是一点都不知道。
请有经验的各位告诉我该怎么做。谢谢！

Yes. As a Chinese Passport holder and a visitor in Canada, you do need a visa to the USA. If you are in Ottawa, you can apply for a visa at the US Embassy's visa office.

May I leave, then re-enter Canada?
In order to return to Canada, you must be in possession of a valid passport or travel document. You also need to hold a valid study or work permit if you are returning to study or work in Canada.

If you are a citizen of a country that requires a temporary resident visa (TRV) to travel to Canada, you will also need to be in possession of a valid entry visa to return, unless:

you are returning to Canada following a visit only to the United States or St-Pierre and Miquelon; and
you return before the expiry of the period initially authorized for your entry or any extension to it, either as a visitor, student or worker.
Possession of these documents does not guarantee re-entry. All persons must establish that they meet all of the requirements of The Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and Regulations before being authorized to enter or re-enter Canada.

1) you need to apply for a US visa at the US embassy/consulate
2) you do not need a visa coming back from the US if the US is the only place you visit in this trip
3) in my opinion, your chances of getting a US visa is very slim (if not 0)because you are a visitor in Canada; unless you can demonstrate you have an "unbreakable tie" with Canada. Plus, your reason to visit the US is not as strong.

今年总的说来，在渥太华申请美国VISA成功比较高。

谢谢各位指教。我早就觉得这不容易，因为我的签证是single-entry啊！可是我那个朋友一个劲地叫我去，她说这会很容易的。我看我还是省了这个劲吧，不能去倒也罢了，不能回来就麻烦了。难道我从美国回到中国再次签证来加拿大？
照楼上的兄弟说的，我还是省了签证费去下馆子吧。
