well, it also depends on the made of the car. Germany cars usually cost more to transplant the engine. There is an alternative way to do it cheaperly, you can just rebuild the whole engine. It costs around $1500 for a 4 cylinder engine and $2000 for a V6. After engine rebuilt, it's like a new engine.
