A 20-YEAR-OLD woman is dead after an early morning collision between a taxi and police cruiser yesterday.
She was one of two passengers in a Westway cab that was in collision with the police cruiser at 3:37 a.m. at Riverside Dr. and Heron Rd.
The province's Special Investigations Unit has been called in to investigate, but spokeswoman Rose Bliss disclosed few details yesterday, including the woman's name.
"We will be meeting with her family later today," Bliss said.
There were no other serious injuries.
The cab driver, a second passenger, as well as the police officer and a man who was in custody, were all taken to hospital with minor injuries and later released.
"The officer was going to the police station with a person who was arrested," Bliss said.
At the scene yesterday morning, bright orange cones littered the wet intersection, marking debris and what appeared to be the path of the cab.
