"ch" 的法语发音和普通话的"歇"是最接近的, 所以音译成"米歇儿"最贴切的.

Well, please note the letter "ë" in her first name "Michaëlle". It is not the French name "Michaelle". Her husband is a French, but she is not. Therefore, her first name cannot be pronounced as in French.

As such, the pronounciation is different. "Ch" sounds like "K". Listen to news broadcasts to check it out. :-)

Well, please note that the « ë » in her name is absolutely French. She was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti where French is spoken. The name Michaëlle is not common but doesn’t mean it’s not French. The two dots (called le tréma) on the e indicate syllable separation in French pronunciation just like the word Noël for Christmas in French. Michaëlle is the female form of Michaël (Please note that there is also a tréma on the e). The name Michael (without the tréma) is English, not French. If you don’t believe me, please check the website (http://meilleursprenoms.com/site/Filles/M6.htm) for French spellings. To those who think the name Michaëlle should be spelt without the tréma in French, I am curious to know where your sources are from. And I don’t see how Michaelle can be pronounced in a French way without the tréma. I have never seen « ae » together in a French word without a tréma. Let me know if you can think of one.

By the way, « ch » is sometimes pronounced like « k » in French like the word « chorale » or « chrétien ». And the « k » pronunciation in her name is absolutely correct, unlike the name Michelle where the « ch » is pronounced like « sh ».
