主要是对出口产品竞争力的影响。如果加元持续走高，那么加国产品和人工的竞争力就会减弱（由于价格），从而导致减产或工厂倒闭迁走，大量工人失业（也影响到配套企业和相关研发部门）。

Yes. For those students that rely their living on U.S. dollars, they should wish the RMB to get stronger, not Canadian dollar to go down.

But I still don't understand: why do they have so many U.S. dollars? Their parents earn RMB in China, right? Why didn't they exchange Canadian dollars to bring into Canada?

If I remember correctly, if you want to change your RMB to Can$, what they do at the bank in China is that they change your RMB into US$ first, then convert the amount of US$ into Can$. You'll eventually lose about 3%.
