We now have a chance to be against bilingualism. See below.
Fw: Petition to end Official Bilingualism
Just for everyone who has ever been in this situation. I know I have......and it is discouraging to look for work, even in small towns it is against you as your rights and it is discrimination against people who
speak English. Also our tax paying money is going to the gov't to have
people go on courses for french, but then they don't use it. I know of an indiviual who is doing this, because now for 3 sessions as it is not good enough for the mgmt role he trying for, but they keep sending him........That makes good business!
So forward to your friends............and really think about this. Another right we are loosing.

Comment from a concerned person:
Finally other people are taking notice of our so called Official Bilingualism. We as English speaking Canadians need to do something. Official Bilingualism is way out of control. It is discrimination against English speaking Canadians. It is pretty sad when you want to work, but the main reason you cant get a job is because you cant speak French. English speaking employees of the Federal Government wont take a stand or say anything because they are afraid of losing their jobs. They also cant get promotions because they are not bilingual. If they were to lose their jobs, they would soon find out that they wouldn't be able to get another one if they don't speak French.
I joined CLF a couple of years ago, but I found a lot of the members are older retired Canadians. We need the younger employable generation to get involved. I have been battling this problem for the last two years. 99% of the job postings in the Ottawa Citizen ask for bilingual. Even the contract jobs through agencies are asking for bilingual.
What's next, change the name of Ottawa to be called l'Outouais d'Ottawa.
Petition to end Official Bilingualism
( The injustice of official bilingualism is that it is being applied to
E discriminate against anglophones outside Quebec, while Quebec itself
m remains militantly unilingual. Official bilingualism is being used
b and abused by francophones as a forced entry into positions of power
e and influence across Canada.
