1. You can buy it from your bank or investment companies.
2. You can call this number (1-800-959-8281) to find out what is your RRSP deduction limit, which will vary depending on your previous year's income. It will also show on your reassessment sheet what your next year's RRSP deduction limit is.
3. You can't buy more than $2000 over your RRSP deduction limit each year, or you will be penalized (having to pay tax on the extra amount that you buy).
4. You can take $20,000 max out of the RRSP account to use it towards your first home purchase whenever you want (but the money has to be in the account for 90 days or more), but remember when you do start buying RRSP that it is under the account that will be used for home purchasing, instead of for retirement (there's a penalty if you take money out of the retirement account for home purchasing).

YOU CAN WITHDRAW LESS THAN $20K FROM YOUR ANY RRSP ACCOUNT EXCEPT FROM THE LOCK-IN RSP ACCOUNT WHICH WAS CONTRIBUTED BY YOUR EMPLOYER TO PENSION PLANS AND TRANSFERRED TO YOUR LOCK-IN RRSP WHEN YOU CHANGED EMPLOYMENT).

There is a booklet called RRSP by the Canada Revenue Agency. You can find all answers there. the booklet is available at any CRA office, one is located at Heron & riveside. You can also find most of the answers in the General Income Tax Guide, which you can pick up one at every post office with the tax forms.

I talked to my financial advisor today and he told me that the guy who handled my account previously put my RRSP under the retirement account, and that I would have to take a percentage of penalty (3.2% initially, and declines 0.4% every year until it's penalty free) if I want to use the money in it for my first home purchase. That's why I pointed it out so that other people would clarify with their bank/advisor or whatever that they want to use their RRSP for home purchasing instead of retirement, to avoid this.

I'm not referring to contribution by employer at all, I'm only talking about RRSP in which you buy yourself.

You know caps are a bit rude, sounds like you are screaming.
