I doubt you can get a decent house for 250K in Ottawa these days. I did look at some townhouses that are being renovated, they are cheap but the designs are so horrible, long and narrow bird-cage type of designs.

Check out this penthouse floor plan, the living room is 31X39, totally mind blowing. I love the unconventional shape too.
