Does anybody know who should pay the fee...condo management or unit owner?

We have air-conditioning in our yard. the condo management notified us that because the foundation of our neighbour needs to be fixed, we need to uninstall our air conditioning and then after they finish the job, then install air conditioning again, however this uninstall and install is at our cost.

The cost would be about $428. we think it is very unfair asking us to pay this fee. The maintenance is for other's foundation, while we have to pay those fee without any benefit to us..

Have you met this kind of scenario before? If so, please let us know QQH, much appreciated.

that's bull. it's ur house

tell em you're not authorized to touch my propert, or see em in court

unless you don't own your property. review your condo agreement

thanks, I cannot fully understand the following "condo agreement", not sure if I have full responsiblibity to cover all those fees...my GOD, if they want to fix 10 times next time, Do I have to pay 10 times $428?

quote: the owner of the unit, from time to time, is entirely responsible for all modifications made to the common elements by the owner or by a previous owner of the units. Accordingly, the owner of the unit, from time to time, is responsible for all maintenance, repair and insurance related to such modifications and must fully and completely indemnify and save harmless the corporation from any claims, expenses or losss related in any way to the modifications"unqote

The air conditioning was installed by previous owner with permission of condo management...The condo manager argued" yard belongs to common elements for Condo"...Does anybody know?

Unfortunately, you probably have to pay. There are some differences between free-hold and condo....But having said that, you may negotiate with the management team and they should give you some compensation. You can also consult your insurance company...

Yeah, that's right. There are a few big differences between free-hold and condo houses about property's ownership. Condo owner doesn't really "own" its unit and land...

thanks. I realized the difference between the condo and free-hold before we bought the condo...but I was not aware having this kind of trouble...the Condo management team just notified what we must do ... the property manager was so rude, not even give us a chance to netogiate or find out another solution...

My advice: Sell your condo and move!!
After that, please share with us your horror story, and tell us what condominium it is so that we can avoid that place. Thanks in advance.

bought it last year, mortgage lock-in, will have capital loss if sell now...about 30 year old small townhouse condo with $220+/month condo fee, windors not changing yet, I should have got the poor management of the condo management team...wondering where's the money going...
